Welcome
to the Houston YA/MG Writers Group! Our goal is to provide professional
development and support for Houston-area writers focusing on middle
grade and/or young adult audiences. We started the group not to
replace, but to complement and reinforce what we all receive from the
many wonderful, established Houston-area writing groups. Our meetings
usually combine a speaker or guided topic with ample discussion time so
that members can share and get feedback from each other, whether new
writer or professional. We try to provide a mix of topics to cover both
the business of writing and the craft of writing, focusing on the MG
and YA markets as much as possible.
The
group meets the third Saturday of each month. We officially start at
9:30 but come at 9 if you'd like to get in some "catching up time". We
usually end between 11 and 11:30, but since we have the room until 12,
feel free to stay and talk writing! The meeting is in our permanent
location- the Community Room at the H.E.B. at 9710 Katy Freeway. The
cross street is Bunker Hill, and the store is on the north side of the
freeway. The store phone number is if
you need directions. The Community Room is at the front, just before
the main entrance to the grocery store and to the left of the frozen
